Mini Update Sticky Post: March 18th, 2018 Michelle Alexander’s The New Jim Crow will be an addition to my worldchanging reading list: essential stuff. I have just finished another novel by indigenous writer Dawn Dumont, Rose’s Run, and I’m thoroughly enjoying, but taking my time with several long novels: Ann Leckie’s Ancillary Sword, Kathleen Addison’s The Goblin Emperor, and Amitav Ghosh’s River of Smoke. My next book for Kinna’s Reading Africa Challenge, another memoir by Ngugi wa Thiong’o, has arrived from the library and now that I have finished another of Mavis Gallant’s collections I will be sneaking in some other short stories before I begin with her next collection.
This spring, I am contemplating the Women’s FIction Prize and some of the titles on the Man Booker International Fiction list. (A few have angled their way into the stacks, but nothing serious yet.)
My current reading projects are still unfolding.
Exploring my grandmother’s copies of Mazo de la Roche’s Jalna stories. (I’m in the middle of it all now.)
How about you: what are you reading these days, and what are you looking forward to reading soon?
