Mini Update Sticky Post: April 23, 2019

A recent favourite is Kim McLarin’s Womanish (2019), a collection of essays that has everything in it which I’d hoped to find in the work of Roxane Gay: a smart and strong, bold and dedicated feminist, who also crafts her work meticulously (and loves loves loves James Baldwin).

Becky Chambers’s Wayfarers series is wholly entertaining and I am loving very minute of it. (Mr. Chef is my current favourite.)

I’m also pulling from my poetry shelves, including a Michael Crummey collection.

He’s one of my MustReadEverything authors, and so is Thomas King, which is why his A Short History of Indians in Canada is in my stack this week.

So many books to talk about! Including what’s currently in my bookbag, notebook, and reading log.

Reading Mavis Gallant, one story at a time, resuming in June with Overhead in a Balloon.

How about you: what are you reading these days, and what are you looking forward to reading soon?

(First time here? Please don’t be shy: there’s no such thing as too much bookchat! Please leave a comment, say hello, talk books!)
