Sincere bookish thanks to Olduvai Reads for this one!

I always look forward to hearing about what she’s reading, so I’m happy to think that she feels the same way about visiting me here.

“To accept the award you must link back and thank the person who gave you the Life is Good Award and then answer the ten survey questions. Then you can pass it along to other blogs.”

My own personal rule for selecting for awards is that I choose from a pool of recent discoveries, from people whose blogs I’ve discovered in the last few weeks, so these are three happy new-ish discoveries:

Bella’s Bookshelves
Reader of the Stack
Kinna Reads

Thanks to each of them for adding to my TBR list and making bookishness that much more delicious.

And here are the ten questions and answers.

1. If you blog anonymously are you happy doing it that way; if you are not anonymous do you wish you had started out anonymously so you could be anonymous now?
Who was it who said that Anonymous was a woman?! Not me. I wouldn’t choose to be anonymous.

2. Describe one incident that shows your inner stubborn side.
My stubborn side isn’t inner; it’s world-side out. For instance, I stubbornly insist on reading daily, even though I’ve already forgotten most of what I read last week.

3. What do you see when you really look at yourself in the mirror?
It’s a bit blurry: too much time spent staring at print and not enough time staring into the distance.
I’m certain I have a book around here with exercises in it to help repair weary eyes.
It involves a patch and a string with knots in it. Yes, really.

4. What is your favourite summer cold drink?
Home-made lemonade, not too sweet.
[Favourite winter hot drink for bonus points? Fair-trade coffee in the mornings, Peppermint tea in the evenings.]

5. When you take time for yourself, what do you do?
Er, read, of course.
Go on a book wander.
Browse in children’s libraries.
Take the scenic route to the bookshops.

6. Is there something you still want to accomplish in your life? What is it?
A million things I still want to accomplish.
Amongst them: read a million books.

7. When you attended school, were you the class clown, the class overachiever , the shy person, or always ditching?
Definitely the one with her nose in a book, or peering out from behind a stack of them.

8. If you close your eyes and want to visualise a very poignant moment of your life what would you see?
Standing outside Margaret Laurence’s Lakeside home in the rain, the historical plaque making the house look doubly lonely.

9. Is it easy for you to share your true self in your blog or are you more comfortable writing posts about other people or events?
My bookishness comes out naturally; it’s a big part of my true self.
And this space on the ‘net is about being BuriedInPrint, so the other parts of my true self are only shared here in that context.

10. If you had the choice to sit down and read or talk on the phone, which would you do and why?
Right now? I’d call Mr. BIP, but if it went to voicemail I’d pick up my book right away!

Thanks again, Olduvai. “Life is good” and “Life is better”, with bookish connections like these to make it so.

Tomorrow: back to regularly scheduled bookchat, with talk of Witi Ihimaera’s The Whale Rider.
